Hospitality Services

You will be introduced to your dedicated UPMC Global Care Hospitality Coordinator. This person will be available to you 24 hours a day to help with non-medical needs.

They will help you with the following services:

  • Visa – paperwork needed to help secure your visa and travel documents
  • Transportation – coordinating travel to and from the airport as well as between appointments and around town during your care
  • Support – assisting with dietary, religious and other support during treatment

Arrival

After arriving at the hospital and settling in, your personal Hospitality Coordinator will visit you. Their job is to orient you to the facilities and take time to identify any non-medical needs you may have, such as translation, dietary requirements or communication with family or friends at home. They will remain part of your team throughout your UPMC journey.

Health Care Coordination

Whether you visit us in the United States, one of our regional care centers around the world, or virtually, our goal is to provide the best care possible. UPMC Global Care’s Clinical Care Coordinator will be your point of contact for your healthcare journey. When you arrive at the facility, they will advocate for you, explain the processes and help you access your care.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with your physician and other health providers
  • Creating a plan to meet your health care needs
  • Taking part in admissions and outpatient appointments when needed
  • Monitoring your clinical progress and providing you with updates
  • When necessary, requesting authorization for treatment from sponsoring groups including insurance companies and government agencies

Discharge and Follow-Up

When your treatment is completed, UPMC Global Care will help you identify a plan for discharge and your return home. Our team will stay in touch to track your recovery and arrange for follow-up care at any one of our international facilities. Your follow-up location will be determined by proximity to your home as well as the kind of treatment you received and still may require.
